AZITO ENERGIE
In order to meet the country growing energy demand and turn Côte d’Ivoire into West Africa’s main electric power hub, the Ivorian Government contracted out in 1997, the construction of the Azito thermal power plant. Azito Energie SA, today, subsidiary of Industrial Promotion Services (West Africa) and Globeleq (a British company specialiased in the development of power projects in Africa) is thus set up to fund, build and operate this future thermal power plant within the framework of a BOOT (Built-Own-Operate-Transfer) type contract.
Since its commissioning in 2000, the Azito power plant has been a success in all respects: it produces reliable and affordable electricity, while making an efficient use of Côte d'Ivoire's natural gas resources. The Azito thermal power plant has a current output of 445 megawatts and is one of the most powerful, modern and efficient power plant in West Africa, thanks to the use of innovative and environment-friendly technology. |
